Seven Network reportedly issues legal letter after Big Brother jumps back to Ten
Seven Network has reportedly issued a legal letter to TV production company Endemol Shine Australia over a ‘hold back‘ on Big Brother.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Network 10 would reacquire the popular reality TV show which it first launched back in 2001.
Mel Tracina, best known as the entertainment correspondent on Ten’s The Cheap Seats and as a workday announcer on Nova Radio, will host the rebooted series.
However, the hold back means that no work can start on the show with Network 10 until mid-2025.
According to TV Tonight, Seven Network has sent a legal letter to Endemol Shine Australia following the unexpected announcement at Network 10’s Upfront event this week.

A Seven Network spokesperson declined to comment, telling Mumbrella: “We do not discuss confidential matters publicly.”
Per TV Tonight, an industry source said the hold back prevents negotiations commencing with another broadcaster “until the day after the hold back finishes. You can’t start production in the middle. You can’t be casting, you can’t be announcing hosts. You can’t be announcing deals”.
Seven Network last screened Big Brother in December 2023.
Mumbrella has also contacted Network Ten and Endemol Shine for comment.
