Seven and Nine in dead heat after Seven was buoyed by The Blacklist

Blacklist Last night saw Seven and Nine run a dead heat in the ratings with both TV networks pulling a 22.5 per cent metro audience share on their respective main channels.

Seven was buoyed by the return of US drama The Blacklist which drew 1.048m on its season return and also The X Factor which performed solidly drawing an audience of 1.161m. In the 9.30pm slot SHIELD drew an audience of 500,000.

However, the result was not enough to topple Nine’s renovation show The Block which was the most watched program of the night with 1.333m viewers.

Nine also saw an improvement in the 8.40pm slot with Big Brother which had 735,000 viewers an improvement from the 640,000 viewes it had last week when it was up against the Brownlow Medal.

On Ten the debut of reality policing show Gold Coast cops in the 7.30pm slot had an audience of 563,000, after drawing criticism on social media and from other police. In the 8pm slot Territory Cops drew 472,000 viewers.

Over on the ABC last night’s Australia Story featuring comedienne Fiona O’Loughlin, speaking about her battle with alcoholism, drew 887,000 viewers. Four Corners drew 729,000 for a part one of a two part special on smoking while Q&A had 511,000 viewers.
