Seven West Media appoints John Driscoll as CEO Western Australia

Seven West Media has announced former chief executive of Marketforce, John Driscoll will become CEO for its operations in Western Australia.

The news comes less than a week after Driscoll’s departure from Marketforce was announced.

Driscoll will depart Marketforce in September

He will replace former CEO of Seven West Media WA, Chris Wharton, who retired after more than 20 years with Seven West Media Group.

Driscoll joined Marketforce in 1988 as chairman and CEO.

He is also chairman of the Rottnest Island Authority, chairman of Trinity College WA and deputy chairman of Wheelchair Sports WA.

In his new role, Driscoll will aim to develop Seven West Media’s businesses in Western Australia, including TVW7 Perth, The West Australian, The Sunday Times, thewest.com.au, and perthnow.com.au.

He will also oversee Seven West Media’s major shareholding in the Community Newspaper Group.

Tim Worner, CEO of Seven West Media said Driscoll has a “proven track record in leading the growth of a media business”.

“John knows Western Australia and has played a very significant role in not only media and marketing but also has deep connections with the community.

“We are all looking forward to working with him as we grow and get to know even better our huge audience in Western Australia.”

Marketforce, which is majority owned by Clemenger Group, has said Driscoll will depart in September with Paul Everingham – former CEO of Clemenger’s public affairs and corporate strategy firm GRA Everingham – stepping in to replace him.

Seven West Media said Driscoll will commence in the new financial year.

He will report directly to Worner and the senior executive team.
