Seven wins Thursday as the ABC almost pips Ten

Seven celebrated a nightly win on Thursday as primetime entertainment programming struggled to bring in ratings, with news programming dominating.

Seven News was the top program with 1.089 million metro viewers, ahead of Seven News at 6.30 with 1.057 million metro viewers and Nine News on 1.025 million metro viewers.

Nine News 6:30 won all three key advertising demos, despite being the #4 program overall on Thursday night.

Among entertainment programs, Home And Away was the pick with 569,000 metro viewers, ahead of The Chase Australia on 563,000 metro viewers and Hot Seat with 542,000 metro viewers.

There were multiple sports broadcasts in the top 15 metro programs, with Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football on 534,000 metro viewers and Nine’s 2021 Wimbledon broadcast bringing in 508,000 metro viewers.

As mentioned, Seven won the night with a 32.9% network share ahead of Nine with 31.1%. Meanwhile Ten only just beat the ABC with 14.2% to 14.1%.

The #1 multi-channel on Thursday was 7Two with 4.4%.
