Seven wins Tuesday night despite Masterchef outperforming Big Brother

Ten’s Masterchef topped entertainment programming last night, drawing 957,000 metro viewers.

This was enough to beat Big Brother on Seven, which had 713,000 metro viewers. The eviction segment of the episode jumped to 739,000.

In the same prime-time slot, Nine’s Paramedics had just 486,000.

In the key advertising demographics of those aged 16 to 39, 18 to 49 and 25 to 54, Masterchef was number one, followed by Big Brother.

Despite Masterchef regularly beating Big Brother in the ratings, Seven bills the show as a streaming success, saying 128.2m minutes have been streamed to date. Last night’s episode had 40,900 viewers online, Seven said.

Seven also had success in news, with Seven News winning the night with 1.116m metro viewers. Second on the ladder was Nine News with 1.027m.

This helped Seven to an overall win, with a primary channel share of 19.3% and a network share of 27.6%. Nine placed second overall with 16.4%, which jumped to 23.9% with the addition of multi-channels. Ten had 15.2% and 21.3%, while ABC had 12.8% and 17.6%.
