Seven’s Carols in the Domain pulls more than 750,000, but can’t beat Nine’s Ashes

Seven’s coverage of Woolworths’ annual Carols in the Domain was slightly up on last year’s performance, collecting an average metro audience of 769,000.

Last year was the first year the Christmas concert was aired on a Sunday, where it pulled 721,000 metro viewers.

This was the second year Carols in the Domain ran on a Sunday

But day four of the third test of The Ashes, which ran on Nine, attracted the biggest audiences of Sunday, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings.

Session two, which ran from 4pm to 6pm (AEDST), topped the ratings with 1.324m metro viewers as well as the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54).

Meanwhile, session three – which ran from 6:30pm to 9pm (AEDST) – managed 1.065m.

On the news front, the most-watched program was Nine News Sunday, capturing 1.232m metro viewers ahead of Seven News Sunday’s 787,000.

ABC News Sunday pulled in an audience of 636,000.

Ten’s most-watched program of the night with Eyewitness News, which collected 260,000 metro viewers.

Nine collected the biggest average audience share last night at 23.6% just ahead of Seven’s 23.3%.

Both channels were well ahead ABC, Ten and SBS, which reported average audience shares of 12%, 6.5% and 4.0% respectively.
