Seven’s Kitchen Nightmares launches to 459k; Nine wins entertainment and overall share

Seven’s new series of Kitchen Nightmares launched to 459,000 metro viewers on Wednesday night, while Nine’s The Block took the entertainment crown and the network won the overall share.

The Block aired to 752,000 metro viewers, also winning all three key advertising demos. Following the program in overnight data was The Chase Australia on Seven with 478,000 viewers.

Hard Quiz on ABC drew in 471,000 viewers, Home and Away attracted 463,000 and, as mentioned, Kitchen Nightmares launched to 459,000.

338,000 metro viewers tuned in to Question Everything on ABC, 320,000 to Hot Seat on Nine and 313,000 to The Chase at 5pm on Seven.

Meanwhile, Seven News at 6.30 was the #1 metro program on Wednesday with 882,000 metro viewers followed by Seven News with 873,000 metro viewers. Nine News at 6:30 aired to 745,000, and Nine News brought in 719,000. Next was A Current Affair which pulled in 565,000 viewers, while ABC News brought in 537,000.

In terms of overall share, Nine took the top spot with 31.4% overall network share over Seven’s 27.9%, followed by ABC’s 17.1%, and Ten on a 15% share.

Nine secured the top primary channel share with 22% while Seven followed with 18.8%. The top-rating multi-channel on Wednesday was 7TWO with a share of 4.1%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 5 October, Wednesday’s The Block on Nine was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.45 million viewers, including 227,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 31%. Nine Perfect Strangers on SBS had the biggest uplift of 100% and was viewed by a total audience of 328,000.
