Seven’s Mega Mini Golf rebranded to Holey Moley as Greg Norman comes on board
Seven’s ‘Mega Mini Golf’ will go to air as Holey Moley, the same name the program sports in the US.
In addition, Australian golf legend Greg Norman has signed on, taking the lead as ‘resident golf pro’.
‘Mega Mini Golf’ was announced at the Seven upfronts in October 2019.
Seven had previously said Sonia Kruger would be hosting the competitive mini-golfing format, following her defection from Nine, however she has since been announced as the host of Seven’s rebooted Big Brother. She will now not appear on Mega Mini Golf.
Norman said of the hosting gig: “Holey Moley is mini golf like you’ve never seen before and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this fresh, fun, new TV series.
“I look forward to joining the other incredible talent on the Holey Moley team and seeing all of the competitors in the ‘Thunderdome’ of mini golf. Let the games begin.”
Joining Norman on Holey Moley’s lineup is AFL commentator Brian ‘BT’ Taylor and American actor and comedian Rob Riggle, who acts as a commentator in the US version of the series.
Australian actress Olympia Vallance will be the ‘sideline reporter’ on the series.
Angus Ross, Seven’s director of network programming, said: “Holey Moley promises to be fun, unpredictable, family entertainment on a scale unlike anything Australia has seen before.
“Greg Norman transcends the game of golf and we’re beyond excited to have him tee off with us. The powerhouse team of The Shark, Hollywood star Rob and our own BT and Olympia take this epic competition to the next level.”
Chris Culvenor, co-CEO of Eureka Productions – which is producing the show for Seven – said: “Eureka is thrilled to be working with Seven and unveil the most extreme mini golf course ever created.
“It’s a fierce competition, full of incredible trick shots, hysterical wipeouts and high pressure putts.”
Production begins on the Holey Moley in the US next month.
Is the new Holey Moley in partnership with the mini golf centre, Holey Moley (under the Strike brand)? Or are they going to face opposition from them?

Not a chance in hell BT is the right host for this. The beauty of this show is the tongue in cheek execution, BT doesn’t have the subtlety for this – chalk it up as another Seven disaster.

I believe Fun-Lab (the owners of Holey Moley Trademark) took the makers of the US program through Trademark litigation mid 2019 and have made a tidy sum through back royalties of the advertising revenue.
More than likely it’s just taken time to agree to an amount/revenue share to use the brand name for the show here. Fun-Lab would be crazy to block it. Imagine getting paid with prime viewing time brand exposure. It’s a win all round for them.

Hardly appealing to young demos unless they want to attract 65+
