Seven’s Winners & Losers drops more viewers on second outing as Ten beats Seven in share

Seven’s local drama series Winners & Losers slipped on its second outing despite being moved to an earlier timeslot as it struggled to compete with ratings powerhouses The Voice and Masterchef.

The show grabbed 589,000 viewers at 8.30pm, after picking up  646,000 viewers at 9.35pm last week. However the season opener picked up an extra 182,000 viewers in time-shifted viewing to take the episode’s total audience to 824,000.

Meanwhile, Nine’s The Voice won the night pulling in 1.439m metro viewers in the 7.30pm timeslot ahead of Ten’s Masterchef which was watched by 1.231m.

Masterchef was the most-watched show amongst the key advertising demographics 16-39 and 18-49 while The Voice was the most-watched show amongst viewers aged 25-54.

The Voice helped Nine win the night with an audience share of 23.4 per cent while Ten claimed second place with an audience share of 17.8 per cent. Seven settled for third place with a share of 17.1 per cent as the ABC managed a share of 12.1 per cent.

Nine’s Embarrassing Bodies Down Under, on air from 9.10pm, was watched by 557,000.

On the ABC, 7.30 grabbed 667,000, Foreign Correspondent (8pm) pulled in 542,000 and Joanna Lumley’s Trans-Siberian Adventure (8.30pm) was watched by 640,000.

In the news battleground, Nine News at 6pm attracted a crowd of 1.152m, sliding to 1.142m from 6.30pm while Seven News at 6pm had an audience of 1.051m, dipping to 967,000 from 6.30pm.

On the secondary channels, 7Two grabbed a share of 5.1 per cent after Foyle’s War, in the 8.30pm timeslot, was watched by 286,000 metro viewers. It helped Seven claim second place overall with a total audience share of 25.9 per cent, ahead of Ten’s total audience share of 23.1 per cent.

In the breakfast battle Nine’s Today beat rival Seven’s Sunrise with 290,000 viewers to 280,000.
