Seventh day of Olympics on Seven keeps network in front

On the seventh day of the Olympics on Seven the network kept its predictable winning run intact as a Friday night audience of 964,000 tuned into the 9pm evening coverage.

Seven rio BasketballIn a day and night with no surprises Olympics coverage captured four of the top 10 spots, with The Chase Australia at 5.30pm on Seven (791,000) the only general entertainment show to break into a top 10 dominated by sport and news.

Seven won the night in a canter with a share of 28.7% ahead of Nine on 13.7%, the ABC with 9.4%, Ten with 8.9% and SBS with 3.8%.

Seven’s news at 6pm was the most watched program of the day with an audience of 1.147m viewers, while the 6.30pm edition was in third with an audience 869,000.

The In Rio Today wrap captured 862,000, edging ahead of Nine’s 6pm news (855,000) and the 6.30pm edition (816,000).

Nine’s A Current Affair at 7pm drew 728,000 people across the five metro markets.

Ten had a surprise top performer with The Living Room at 1pm drawing 549,000 while Family Feud at 6pm attracted an audience of 529,000 viewers.
