Shock advertising
So here’s a powerful public safety ad.
Dr Mumbo won’t spoil its impact by saying too much about it. Except to warn you not to have your headphones on too loud when you watch.
The person who features, by the way, is YouTube personality Nikkie de Jager who does indeed do makeup tips.
You can read more about it on the UK’s Daily Mail.

Or text and drive.
Or call and drive.
Or argue and drive.

I spilled my tea. My public safety message is: don’t drink hot beverages while watching this ad.

Shocking in every sense of the word! More public service announcements should follow the same formula.

Mmm, I think I would’ve enjoyed this more if the screen had actually shattered or something.
I think this would’ve been more shocking if they hadn’t used such a complex make-up tutorial, I imagine a lot of women would look at this and say “Well, I’m not trying to put rhinestones onto my eyes while driving, so applying lipstick must be okay.” However, I do understand that they are trying to lull us into a sense of security so they can shock us.
All in all, not the greatest example of shock advertising because I really think that a lot of women will ignore the message.
