Simon Ryan promoted to CEO of Carat

Simon Ryan_SMLAegis Media has promoted Simon Ryan to the role of CEO of Carat in Australia and New Zealand.

Ryan comes to the role after four years running Carat’s Melbourne operation and will continue to be based in Victoria, whilst focusing his attention on the broader Australia and New Zealand business.

“Simon is an outstanding talent in our business and industry and I am pleased to elevate his responsibility into a national and trans-Tasman role for Carat,” said Luke Littlefield, CEO of Aegis Media Australia & New Zealand.

Carat is one of Australia’s largest media agencies with more 250 staff and clients including David Jones, Woolworths, Nissan, Fairfax and Disney.

In 2012 Carat had billings of around $200m however this is understood to have rapidly grown with much of the business from Mitchell & Partners being moved into the agency following its sale to Aegis.

Prior to joining Carat in 2009 Ryan was general manager of Mediacom Australia for six years.
