SiriusXM leaves Australian Podcast Ranker
SiriusXM’s huge stable of podcasts, including The Mel Robbins Show, Call Her Daddy, and Smartless, are no longer included in the Podcast Ranker, with the US audio giant choosing to opt out of the ranking system.
The Mel Robbins show topped the Australian Podcast Ranker in the first five months of 2025, its inclusion in the Australian chart due to SiriusXM’s podcasts being represented by Listnr in the Australian market, through a deal with Adswizz. The podcast was conspicuously absent from the June rankings, however, along with all other SiriusXM shows.
SCA has sold advertising for SiriusXM’s podcast network in Australia since October 2022, and tells Mumbrella this is still the case.
“SCA have a strong ongoing relationship with SiriusXM and the commercialisation of their premium podcast titles through our agreement with Adswizz, which adds significant reach to our LiSTNR audience network,” a spokesperson told Mumbrella.
“Advertisers can continue to buy our ‘known audience’ and utilise our world-class adtech through our commercial teams.”
Shows in the SiriusXM stable include Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy; Smartless, starring Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes; Rotten Mango; Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend; Freakonomics Radio; The Megyn Kelly Show; and 99% Invisible.
Between them, the above list of shows was responsible for over 3.6 million downloads in Australia during the month of May.
SiriusXM dropped out of Triton’s US Podcast Ranker last September, telling trade publication Inside Audio Marketing the company “doesn’t believe that Triton and Podtrac currently offer a complete representation of the entire landscape of podcast listening as neither includes Spotify listening in their rankings”.
In the US, SiriusXM now uses Edison Research’s third-party measurement, which doesn’t require an opt in.
Interestingly, the June Australian Podcast Ranker doesn’t include data for the ‘top publishers’ or the ‘top sales representatives’ section, despite these charts being available for May.
Mumbrella has reached out to Commercial Radio and Audio in regards to this metric.
Keep up to date with the latest in media and marketing
I’ll be surprised if this gets posted, but what Mumbrella’s problem with the podcast ranker and the stories you write? I’m a small publisher working with a larger broadcaster and the amount of times I’ve been able to use the ranker to show how our podcast is performing against other podcasts has been a life saver in winning advertising dollars. Also, it’s not just about the ranker, it’s all the data that comes with it in the dashboards we are provided.

Interestingly it does still include that data if you bother to click on the dropdown options.
Triton has always been useful for looking at individual shows or figuring out who represents what but using it as some kind of contest between publishers… not so much. Everyone pushes out their own version of truth anyway and it’s really up to agencies to ask the right questions and think critically about the answers they get.

As a podcaster on the Ranker, my Spotify listening is tracked and measured. Your comment, “neither includes Spotify listening in their rankings,” is incorrect.

Well done Sirius ?
Many of us suspect the podcast rankings are utter BS anyway.
Far too much ‘scope’ for platforms to nudge the results one way or the other.
