Sling & Stone partners with retail crime reporting solution Auror

Sling & Stone has taken on a new client for Australia and New Zealand – retail crime reporting platform, Auror.

The announcement:

Auror, the retail crime reporting platform transforming the way retailers and police collaborate to reduce organised retail crime and make stores safer globally, has appointed challenger communications agency Sling & Stone across Australia and New Zealand.

The partnership will see Sling & Stone continue to build on Auror’s trusted brand, focusing awareness across the retail sector as well as law enforcement and government stakeholders across both countries. This will be achieved with a mix of strategic media relations, data storytelling, founder profiling and employer brand work.

With more than $150 billion lost every year to retail crime, Auror was developed as a way to equip retailers with safe and secure solutions to report, solve, and stop crime occurring in stores, and create safer communities. Before Auror, there was no effective technology for retailers to report crime following an event like shoplifting, theft or violent behaviours.

The privacy-first platform was designed to be the solution, enabling retailers to have visibility of offending across their entire store network safely and securely. They can also make reports directly via Auror to the police — removing the time-consuming process of physically reporting at the police station — and allowing law enforcement to effectively and efficiently follow up or investigate the matter. Most importantly, this enables police to focus on addressing those perpetuating the most loss and harm in the community and create a safer future for everyone.

Vanessa Wills, director strategic comms and engagement, Auror said:

“Sling & Stone has become a true extension of our team from day one. Beyond their PR and communications expertise, the team has seamlessly slotted in as our trusted strategic partner, as invested in our success as we are. Their remarkable ability to delve into the heart of our business, coupled with strong alignment to our innovative and ambitious values, meant it was a sure-fire decision to join forces with Sling & Stone.”

James Hutchinson, global head of business Sling & Stone said:

“Retail crime is a fast growing concern for Australians. And while it’s only become top of mind fairly recently for the public, it’s been an ongoing issue for retailers for many years. That’s where Auror has successfully become a trusted solution and partner to both allow retail organisations to report retail crime, and also for law enforcement to collaborate with retailers and increase store safety.

“Auror holds a unique vantage point in understanding how organised crime affects those on the frontlines and the retail industry as a whole. Their innovative approach to addressing crime is groundbreaking, and we look forward to amplifying their story and communicating the impact they have had on retailers and the work they’ve done with police.”
