SMH axes Essential Style
The Sydney Morning Herald has axed its Essential Style pullout with the final edition having been published last week.
Instead the Thursday edition of the Fairfax Media newspaper will carry a two page fashion section called Style edited by new fashion editor Georgina Safe, who joined on Monday after doing the same role on The Australian.
Meanwhile, the design, homewares and retail content previously in Essential Style will move to the newspaper’s Saturday supplement Spectrum.
Herald editor Amanda Wilson said: “Georgina is a terrific advocate for Australian fashion and one of the most highly regarded journalists in this area. I am confident our readers will find much to inspire them in the new fashion section.”
Tim Burrowes founded Mumbrella in 2008. He worked on Mumbrella until 2021. At various points he was editor, content director and editor-at-large. He returned to Mumbrella as Publisher in January 2025
