Socceroos legend Mark Schwarzer takes a punt on everyday situations for Unibet
Sports betting site Unibet has launched a series of TVCs featuring the Socceroo’s most capped player and goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, and Australian UFC fighter Rob Whittaker. The ads were shot in Australia and in Las Vegas.
Unibet worked with Ninth Wave and P2 Content Agency on the campaign, which includes two 30 second TVCs along with additional digital and social versions.
The 30” TVCs include goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who is watching a game of soccer on the bus. An old lady sitting nearby challenges him to bet on the outcome of the penalty Schwarzer is watching on his phone.
In the second execution, champion Australian UFC fighter Rob Whittaker threatens to annihilate his opponent in the video gam they’re playing.
Unibet’s head of marketing and operations Julian Timmins said: “The campaign aims to illustrate how betting plays a role in everyday Australian life. It is almost subconscious and usually with a great sense of fun. The Aussie public ‘bet’ on everyday events with friends and family all the time, it is inherent in our culture.”
Director Harrison Woodhead explained: “A typical Aussie punter will bet on a couple of blow flies walking across a bar table – it’s just good sport. This campaign taps into that insight, highlighting the fun that punters get out of turning everyday happenings into something far more interesting!”.
Is it just me or is gambling advertising completely out of control?
The sheer volume of ads by umpteen different betting companies is getting a bit ridiculous.
