Sophie Onikul joins eBay Australia as head of communications

Sophie Onikul has been appointed head of communications for online marketplace, eBay.

Onikul joins the company from The Brick Exchange where she was the head of communications and PR for a year.

During her career Onikul has also worked at Transport for NSW for seven months as a principal media and stakeholder engagement officer.

Onikul was a media writer for the Australian Olympic Committee in Rio de Janeiro for the duration on the Rio Olympics.

Daniel Feiler, senior director of communications at eBay, said in a statement to Mumbrella: “We are delighted to have Sophie join the team and lead our Communications efforts in Australia. Sophie has an exceptional background in media, government and private sectors. Australian online retail is undergoing rapid change and I am certain that Sophie will continue the tradition of excellent Communications counsel for eBay’s Australia business.”

Onikul is replacing Amber Morris who held the head of comms role at eBay for nearly four years.

In September last year, eBay promoted its chief marketing officer, Tim Mackinnon to Australia and New Zealand managing director.

As CMO, he was involved in the creation of the recent ‘Fill Your Cart with Colour’ campaign, which was also the first work from Sydney agency 72andSunny.
