Final CommsCon speakers announced including Tourism Australia, The Iconic, Wests Tigers, Guardian Australia and more

The final speakers have been announced for Mumbrella’s CommsCon conference next month.

Among those joining the lineup are Geoff Ikin, general manager, global media, PR and social at Tourism Australia, Liz Anderson, head of PR at The Iconic, Craig Heydon, head of media and digital, Wests Tigers NRL Club and Susie Bayes, brand partnerships director for Guardian Australia.

Ikin, Anderson, Heydon and Bayes join Mumbrella’s CommsCon 2018 lineup

Ikin and Anderson will join the panel exploring the state of the influencer market and how the year ahead will shape what is still a heavily debated industry sector. Heydon, who has been with the Wests Tigers since 2013, will sit on a panel discussing whether or not PR is currently in the midst of an identity crisis, while Bayes will be part of a session formed by Fromm’s Matt Kendall exploring how to get the most value out of your content marketing.

Mumbrella’s CommsCon will take place on March 22 in Sydney, with the CommsCon Awards following directly after. Tickets for both events are on sale now.

Also joining Kendall’s session on content marketing is Andrew Cornell, managing editor, BlueNotes at the ANZ newsroom and Fiona King, director of Go Collaborate. With Bayes, the four will look at the opportunities that come from a long-term content marketing strategy combined with agile, iterative processes. They’ll look particularly closely at briefs, planning, production techniques, execution and the different roles that fit into these stages.

Meanwhile, Nat Bradford, managing director of Bradford PR and former director of consumer and enterprise technology at Hill & Knowlton, will join Mona’s Robbie Brammall and Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes on the panel addressing how controversial PR can work in a brand’s favour. Bradford’s experience with some of the biggest technology brands globally including Dell and Sony has given him significant insights into the thinking of large corporates and how they approach risky PR strategies.

Jesse Muir of FleishmanHillard will share his thoughts on the future of PR from a young practitioner’s perspective

Having recently started his PR career, Jesse Muir, account coordinator at FleishmanHillard will add his opinions to the unique panel addressing the future of PR from the viewpoint of young PR practitioners. Muir will be speaking next to Tahlia Davies, account manager at Sling & Stone, Jasmine Tobia, PR officer for the Cancer Council NSW and Jayde Galvin, senior account executive at One Green Bean, with industry HR leader, Lynette Edmonds, moderating.

Also participating in CommsCon is Mike Doman, creative partner at Attention+Influence, who will join Heydon on the panel discussing PR’s identity crisis while Jules Hall, CEO of The Hallway, will be part of the panel looking into PR and creativity.

Mumbrella’s CommsCon conference will take place on March 22 at The Westin Hotel in Sydney with AirBnB’s PR lead Dylan Smith flying in from San Francisco to keynote. Tickets are on sale now.
