Sophie Price rejoins UM after seven years working in creative agencies

Sophie PriceMedia agency UM has poached The Hallway’s head of planning Sophie Price, marking a return to the media agency she left 2007 to get more experience on the creative side.

Price will reprise the role she vacated in 2007, head of national strategy, having directed planning at a number of creative agencies including the now defunct Campaign Palace and The Monkeys.

For the last two years she has headed strategy at Sydney independent agency The Hallway, with CEO Jules Hall telling Mumbrella the search for her replacement is underway.

“I left UM in 2007 to pursue a plan to apply my media skills and experience to the creative side of the business,” said Price.

“Now I am going back to the future to bring my creative experience and love of the media sector together in the role at UM. The agency has been the stand out performer in Australia and internationally and the chance to work with Mat and his leadership team is simply an opportunity that I cannot resist.”

Price has led strategy on a number of award-winning campaigns, including the Tontine ‘date stamp’ campaign in 2010 and 2011 which picked up Grand Prix awards from the Australia Effies and the Media Federation of Australia as well as silver and bronze awards from the Cannes Lions.

On the appointment Baxter said: “Clearly Sophie’s achievements speak for themselves. This appointment is particularly special because we are welcoming Soph back to UM where she started her career in Australia but this time round she’s in-charge and we’ll benefit from her product leadership enormously.”

Price will return to UM on January 19 and will report to CEO Mat Baxter.
