Sophie Young promoted to managing director at Showpony Adelaide

Sophie Young has been appointed as managing director at independent creative agency Showpony Adelaide.

Young initially joined Showpony Adelaide in 2006 as account manager. She left the company to work as special projects manager at Confidential in New York. Young returned to Australia in 2014 to Showpony, where she was made account director and partner, then general manager.

Young said of her appointment: “After leaving to accept an opportunity in New York, I returned to Showpony because I missed being involved with the world-class creative campaigns that this agency produces.

“Throughout my career, the work that I’m most proud of includes the campaigns that seek to influence social change. It’s those campaigns that demonstrate how the creative industry makes a positive contribution to society. I look forward to continuing the creative and cultural legacy of Showpony.”

With the promotion of Young, managing director and founder Jamie Scott and group creative director Parris Mesidis will focus on growing Showpony’s Melbourne office.

Creative director Rory Kennett-Lister and Young will lead the Adelaide office. Kennett-Lister joined the agency in June 2020.

Scott said: “Our agency has grown by about 50% in the last year and Sophie’s leadership as general manager was fundamental to that expansion. We’re so fortunate to have someone of Sophie’s calibre and experience leading our team.”

Mesidis added: “Adelaide is in safe hands with Soph and Rory. We’re looking forward to seeing the amazing client work that this energetic young team can produce.”
