South Australia exploring Indian connection

The South Australian Government has opened an office in Chennai, India, and is exploring partnerships with the state of Tamil Nadu, across renewable energy, education, water management and film production.

“There is a great deal of complementarity in relations with Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai,” said South Australian Premier Mike Rann.

The Hindu reported that South Australia has chosen Chennai as “the hub of its plans for India”, and quoted Rann as saying that “there is scope for collaboration in filmmaking, particularly given Australia’s expertise in special effects and post-production”.

Rann’s comments were made during a meeting between South Australia’s Water Industry Alliance and the Jaipur-based CII Water Institute of the Confederation of Indian Industry, in which both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on water-related research.
