Southern Cross Austereo appoints Sam Westaway and Daryl Mitchell

Southern Cross Austereo has announced two new appointments in Sam Westaway as Melbourne director of sales – TV and Daryl Mitchell as national partnership manager – regional radio.

Sam Westaway

Southern Cross Austereo has announced important leadership appointments to its Sales management team and promoted National Head of Strategy – Melbourne, Sam Westaway to the dual role of Melbourne Director of Sales – TV.

Southern Cross Austereo Group National Sales Director, Jeremy Simpson said, “Sam’s extensive experience in media agencies and his outstanding strategic work within the Metropolitan Radio business stands him in good stead to take on this new and challenging role. We have already secured a number of multi media campaigns in Melbourne and Sam’s knowledge across our radio, digital and now TV assets will continue to drive client solutions”.

Westaway, pictured above, joined Southern Cross Austereo in 2007 and will continue to head the Strategy team in Melbourne. Prior to that, Westaway managed Agency Sales at DMG, Group Communications at Clemenger Harvie Edge and Media Planning at George Patterson Bates.

Daryl Mitchell

In another move, Daryl Mitchell has accepted the newly created position of National Partnership Manager – Regional Radio. The role has been created to provide regional expertise within Southern Cross Austereo – Sales. With ten years of solid experience at Southern Cross Austereo, Mitchell is the ideal appointment to streamline the communication with local radio stations, foster in the development of regional specific opportunities and continue to strengthen the great relationships with Southern Cross Austereo’s Partner networks.

During his time at Southern Cross Austereo, Mitchell can be credited with simplifying the process of planning and buying in regional radio, driving the development of a trade website, best practices in the Station booking process and creating the radio buying grid – this has since become an industry bench mark for media buyers and analysts.
