Sport sees Seven romp to easy win in Friday’s ratings

The Olympics and AFL saw Seven stroll home to one of its biggest Friday wins of the year.

The network won Friday with a primetime share of 27.3%, streets ahead of Nine’s 14% and Ten’s 10.3%, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam.

Seven’s dominance in Melbourne was even greater, with an average of 352,000 viewers in the city tuning in for the AFL Premiership clash between West Coast and Hawthorn. A further 120,000 watched in Adelaide.

Meanwhile, the most watched program of the night across the five city metro was Seven News with 1.174m viewers.

Seven’s daytime Olympic coverage In Rio Today rated 828,000. And its evening coverage averaged 728,000.

Meanwhile, for Nine, it’s Friday Night NRL game featuring Penrith Panthers vs Wests Tigers rated 243,000 in Sydney and 108,000 in Brisbane.

Ten’s best performer was Family Feud which rated 587,000.
