Sportsbet spoofs Nine’s COVID-19 message of hope

Do you remember when every brand, media company, influencer and celebrity was putting out a message of hope – telling fans, consumers, followers and viewers that “we’re all in this together”?

What a time to be alive.

While those ads seem (thankfully) to have had their moment in the sun, betting company Sportsbet is attempting to bring them back, in solidarity with the AFL community.

The new ad takes, shall we say ‘inspiration’, from Nine’s message of hope, which was released in March after Richard Wilkins tested positive for COVID-19.

Sportsbet’s ad, however, is offering solidarity and support to the men who will be caught up in the AFL’s condensed competition – 33 games in 20 days.

It includes inspiring one-liners such as “Wash your hands, of all domestic duties”, and “Stop the madness, you’re ruining it for everyone” in reference to those using isolation to improve themselves.

Arrr, what a time to be alive, indeed.
