Spotify appoints Melissa Circosta as head of comms

Spotify has appointed a new head of communications for Australia and New Zealand, Melissa Circosta.

The head of communications role was left open in April following the departure of Sophie Paterson.

Paterson was with the business for eight years.

Circosta was once the communications lead at Mastercard and group account director at Eleven PR. She joins after a stint as the freelance PR director of Zeno Group. Her previous roles have been at Optus, Hausmann and Princess Cruises. She declined to comment on her new role as Spotify does not comment on staff movements.

Over the last year, Spotify has experienced a number of departures by its senior staff. Managing director, Karen Lawson, left in March.

In June last year, Spotify’s head of sales Cassie Gilbert departed the business. She was replaced by Peter Manten, Bauer Media’s former digital strategy and commercial advisor.

Soon after Gilbert’s departure, head of automation and data, Dan Robins, was made redundant.

Eleven won Spotify’s PR and social account in 2018, however the brand now works with Hill + Knowlton.
