Stephen Fry’s Keys to the City wins for ABC1 while Super Fun Night falls for Nine

English actor, writer and comedian Stephen Fry drew the largest audience for any entertainment show on free to air TV last night as his documentary Keys to the City had 695,000 metro viewers according to OzTam.

The show following Fry through the City of London on ABC1 won over NCIS on Ten, Criminal Minds on Seven and the Sandra Bullock comedy Miss Congeniality 2 on Nine, which was second in the 8.30pm timeslot with 473,000 metro viewers.

Criminal Minds had 488,000 and NCIS had 319,000 preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.

Meanwhile Channel Nine’s new episode of Super Fun Night fell below 500,000 viewers for the first time and was fourth in the 8pm timelsot behind cooking-based programs on Seven, Ten and ABC1.

The sitcom averaged 489,000, preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam show, while A Fresh Aussie Christmas had 628,000 on Seven, Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals had 505,000 on Ten, and the ABC’s Kitchen Cabinet repeat averaged 495,000.

The memorial service for Nelson Mandela, broadcast live on ABC News 24, had 118,000 metro viewers across the five cities from 8pm.

Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens Summers was the second most popular entertainment show in all people and won the 7pm timeslot in all cities but Sydney where Nine had an extended one hour news bulletin and moved A Current Affair to 7pm.

Nine’s repeat of The Big Bang Theory won the 7.30pm timeslot with just 3,000 more viewers than Seven had for A Fresh Aussie Christmas, and the sitcom was fourth in people 25-54.

Meanwhile Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals had 381,000 viewers on Ten before the audience picked up for the second episode at 8pm to rank 16th for the night and ninth in people 25-54.

Channel Seven won the morning battle with 343,000 viewers for Sunrise as Nine’s Today had 310,000. The Morning Show had 149,000 metro viewers on Seven as Nine’s Mornings had less than 116,000, missing the list of OzTam’s top 100 shows.

Nine won the night with an 18.5 per cent share of the audience while Seven had 17.7 per cent. ABC1 had a 14 per cent share, greater than Ten’s 12.3 per cent.
