Stephen Howard to depart Event Hospitality & Entertainment as group PR director

The group PR director of Event Hospitality & Entertainment, Stephen Howard, is set to depart the company for a new role as Ovolo Hotel’s marketing director.

Howard joined Event as a PR manager in 2012 after departing Hyundai as its national manager of public relations.

Throughout his five years at Event, Howard has held positions as PR manager, group PR and promotions manager and group PR director.

Event Hospitality & Entertainment group’s property portfolio includes The State Theatre in Sydney, Rydges Hotels & Resorts, Event Cinemas, QT Hotels & Resorts and Atura Hotels.

Howard is departing the group for a role as the marketing director across Hong Kong and Australia for serviced apartments and hotel brand, Ovolo Hotels.

In a post on LinkedIn, Howard said: “It was a very hard decision to make but it has been an amazing 6 years at Hospitality & Entertainment where our team has had some great results across all our businesses in particular QT, but it’s time for a new challenge.

“Event it holds a very special place in my heart and I wished them all the best in the future – it truly is an amazing business!

“My last day at EVENT is Friday March 2, after which I am heading to Ovolo Hotels as their Marketing Director across Australia and Hong Kong – I am quite excited to help build another amazing hotel brand!”

In a statement to Mumbrella, Howard said: “The skills and key relationships I have gained over my career not only at EVENT through the cinema and hotel businesses but also at Hyundai with its incredible change in brand perception, will be extremely valuable in my new position at Ovolo Hotels.
