Steve Price – a man with issues
Why on earth is Melbourne’s new talk station MTR doing so badly in the ratings when the ads for it are so excellent?
Who wouldn’t want to listen to that attractive offering?

In my opinion – a. He is on AM, many people (well mainly my friends in their 20s) are embarrassed to have AM on in their car or don’t even know how to work it b. Not sexy enough.

Have you ever tried to listen to talk-back radio?

There obviously aren’t that many right wing, righteous, gay/greenie/and everything else bashers in Melbourne. Try Sydney instead.

I certainly dont think it is a generational thing – rather, a technology thing. The problem with AM – tis analog.
With the onslaught of mp3/4 players which mostly only support FM due to the signal clarity, AM is not readily available for the commuter any more. (RIP walkman).
This immediately cuts of the commuter radio audiences, as well as those that skip between stations until they find that which is most likely to appeal – a bit of Pricey talkback stoush!
I do not agree with most that he spews forth, but it is such fun to listen to – keep it up Pricey!!
Sarah – I started listening to Steve Price at aged 21 when driving to my first full time job. Many of my friends also consider the appreciation of a good topical news based radio station as ‘the coming of age’ so I say, be proud to be listening to something substance rather the same boring flatuation that the popular FM stations excrete at a nauseous rate!

@feeonar – thank-you for your feedback, agree yes there is a lot of boring flatuation on FM, maybe we are onto something – perhaps the station should jump across to FM with a slightly different slant? After all who is going to fill the gap for Hamish and Andy?

MTR has all the ingredients to challenge 3AW and 774 ABC Melbourne except one thing – their signal is so bad listeners who have given the station a go cannot stand the reception quality. it is for this reason why AW moved down the dial from 1278 to 697.

Sarah L – MTR would have zero interest in you and your friends listening to them. It’s strictly a 50+ zone.

@Radio Guy – ok sorry, I’ll pass that message onto mum.

Pic of Mr Price (which was full-size) appears to have dropped out, much like MTR’s signal.

Um… can someone tell me what flatuation means in the context that Feeonar and Sara L are using it?

@Alison F – ever heard Sandilands speak? Pure unadulterated flatulation.

MTR needs to focus on getting 3AW and ABC listeners to make the switch to 1377.
This ad is not enticing.
I enjoyed Steve Price when he was in Sydney – he offers a good talk back alternative.
That’s what they should have called the station – “Alternative Talk 1377”.
Then at least I’d know what the station offers.

@Feeonar – So do you mean flagellation (ie to flog something which I am sure Kyle does a lot of) or possibly flatulence which would be referring to passing wind (again pertinent to Kyle) or possibly infatuation (nothing to do with Kyle) or maybe even fluctuation (MTR’s ratings)?
Hang on, I think I’m boring even myself here…

C’mon leave MTR alone.
Both their listeners are really enjoying the station.

Steve Price seems to be a bit of a failure everywhere he goes.
