Strong Monday for X Factor; good evening for The Project; slow night for Big Brother eviction

The X Factor saw off all comers on Monday night, rating a metro audience of 1.422m for Seven.

Nine’s best performer was Nine News, with Hamish and Andy’s Asia Gap Year rating a healthy 1.228m.

The first eviction from the Big Brother, which saw Victorian contestant Sharon ousted, didn’t break 1m, rating 972,000, according to the preliminary overnight ratings from OzTAM.

Ten’s Masterchef rated 734,000 while The Project averaged 671,000, its best so far this year.

British drama Mr Selfridge rated 823,000 for Seven.

Gem’s first session coverage of The Ashes rated 489,000. Australia later lost the game after rain interruptions.

Seven won the night with a 21.6 per cent share. Next came Nine on 21.1 per cent. ABC1 saw off Ten by 13.5 per cent to 10.8 per cent. Gem had an eight per cent share.
