Stuart Pool joins Solstice Media as head of digital and partnerships after 16 years at News Corp
Adelaide’s Solstice Media – the publisher of In Daily – has nabbed News Corp’s Stuart Pool and appointed him as head of digital and partnerships.
Pool spent 16 years at News Corp, wrapping up in April after 10 months as general manager of agency sales in South Australia.
Before joining Solstice Media, he had a short contract as a superannuation team manager at BT, leading a team of customer service consultants. At Solstice, he replaces Kellie Melville, who has become marketing and business development manager at law firm Piper Alderman.
While Pool is joining the company at a difficult time – insofar as COVID-19’s impact on the entire industry – he said Solstice is in a strong position to navigate the market.
“The latest Standard Media Index (SMI) data suggests the last quarter was possibly one of the worst ever, but there are encouraging signs of a return to growth as well,” he said.
“Solstice Media is in a unique position to harness this growth because it has both trusted digital mastheads such as In Daily and City Mag and premium print with SA Life.
“Excitingly, through its Masthead Studio, Solstice can also offer clients brand journalism products, such as podcasts and international news distribution.”
The Adelaide newspaper company recently launched a morning edition, the In Daily Express, which it said has already started to increase readership figures.
“I am excited to join Solstice at a time of unprecedented audience growth and an expansion into new markets like Queensland with many new products,” Pool added. “In Daily’s recent rise to the top 25 in June’s Nielsen Digital Content ratings is proof of this growth.”
