STW Group launches specialist agency for political independents

Just one week after it announced the launch of Shift and the closure of The Brand Shop, STW Group has opened another agency. Independent Liaison, a government relations firm, will be headed up by politician Glenn Druery, the agency’s sole employee.

The agency, which will be based in Sydney, has been billed as Australia’s first and only firm specialising in working for independents and minority political parties.

Independent Liaison will also offer advice to businesses on how to communicate with elected officials, and get a better understanding of government regulation and legislation.

Druery explained: “Independents will play a major role in determining some of our nation’s most important policy outcomes in the near future, such as mining tax reform, health insurance reform, and issues related to the proposed carbon tax.”

“As a result, businesses are looking for expert advice to steer them through this political complexity. Independent Liaison is uniquely placed to provide this guidance, while continuing to help independents and minority parties across the country get elected and provide true community representation.”

The decision to launch was made following “consistent and increasing interest from the business sector on how best to build meaningful relationships with the Independents and minor parties,” added STW CEO Michael Connaghan.
