Subway taps Fresh Prince theme song in first campaign from Publicis

The famous theme song to 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been remixed by Subway for its new campaign that has revived the brand’s tagline, ‘Eat Fresh’.

The new lyrics of ‘Yo Home to Bel-Air’  position Subway as the ‘fresher’ fast food option in the market. The track is performed by New Zealand actor Julian Dennison.

The campaign comes from Publicis, which was appointed Subway’s creative agency of note following a pitch process that began in early 2020.

Publicis Worldwide executive creative director, Ryan Petie, said: “With the iconic footlong sub, personalisation potential and famous craves like meatball subs and Subway’s legendary cookies – our job is simply to make Subway relevant again to all Australians and New Zealanders.”

Publicis was briefed with delivering a fresh positioning for Subway, said head of marketing Rodica Titeica.

“Aussies and Kiwis are looking for fresher food options – they want to eat healthier and they want a great taste while doing it – and that’s what Subway is all about, which is why we’re inviting guests to eat fresh with us,” Titeica said.

“Bringing back Eat Fresh is just the beginning, we’ll be taking a fresher approach that challenges what our customers expect from fast food and celebrating what makes us Subway: our iconic footlong.”
