Suncorp protects Queensland homes from natural disasters in latest work from Leo Burnett

Suncorp Insurance and Leo Burnett have continued to build on the brand’s commitment to preparing and protecting Queenslander’s homes against natural disasters with a new project and campaign, Resilience Road.

Following on from the success of the One House campaign last year, which explored how building innovation can be used to protect homes from flood, fire and cyclones, the new integrated campaign follows a project designed to educate Australians on the changes they can make to their home to help protect it in the case of ever increasing climate disasters.

Suncorp EGM brand and marketing, Mim Haysom, said: “When we created One House, our ambition was to partner with leading resilience experts CSIRO and James Cook University, to understand and identify how we could better design homes to be capable of surviving cyclones, storms, fire and floods. Following on from the success of One House, we created Resilience Road with the intention of taking the elements of our One House prototype into the real world, and to demonstrate how some relatively small and simple changes to your home could be the difference between your home surviving a severe weather event or not.

“You can see from the reaction of the families we supported through the process, how transformative this thinking can be. Not just for one home, but for whole communities,” she added.

Choosing five houses in the same street in one of Australia’s most disaster-prone towns, Rockhampton, the project focuses on assessing the homes of five neighbouring Queensland families, to bring to life how you could make resilience your next renovation.

The campaign itself will showcase the learnings derived from the project with an integrated campaign set to run in Queensland, rolling out on broadcast television, radio, online and across social. The campaign will also be accompanied by the Resilience Road Hub, a virtual demonstration of the project and a place where people can learn about upgrades to make to their own home

Leo Burnett executive creative director, Andy Fergusson, said: “Since the inception of One House, our vision and ambition has always been to democratise resilience and make it accessible to all Australians. Resilience Road is yet another step in making our homes and community as resilient as possible.”

In recent years Leo Burnett has worked on a number of campaigns for Suncorp, including storm season campaigns in 2019 and 2022.

The company recently outlined plans to move all creative production into a centralised hub with WWP content agency Hogarth.
