Sunrise reopens its lead over Today

Seven’s Sunrise stretched its lead over Today to nearly 100,000 viewers on Wednesday in a week that has seen the show’s shrinking lead open up again.

Sunrise rated 436,000 to Today’s 340,000 for Nine according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam. Sunrise won in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide while Today won in Melbourne. It was the same pattern in the key advertiser demographic of 25-54.

Meanwhile, in the battle for primetime, Seven’s My Kitchen Rules dominated with 1.721m viewers. On the same channel Please Marry My Boy stayed just above 1m with 1.017m viewers.

Nine’s Big Bang Theory triple bill rated 788,000, 772,000 and 736,000 – 10th, 11th and 12th for the night. In 25-54 it was sixth, ninth and tenth. The network continued with its Sherlock Holmes-themed Wednesdays after three weeks of running the BBC’s modern day miniseries Sherlock with a rerun of the Robert Downey Jnr movie Sherlock Holmes which rated 567,000.

Ten struggled, with The Biggest Loser rating 849,000, ninth for the night, although it was third for 25-54. Talkin Bout Your Generation rated 664,000.
