Switch Media appoints former Ericsson executive Mark Johns as CEO
Australian streaming technology business, Switch Media, has appointed former Ericsson executive Mark Johns to take over as CEO from Christopher Stenhouse, the company has announced.

The announcement:
Nice to see a more international flavour in a local business, but:
1. “taken the reigns”? Really?
2. This reorganisation was scuttlebutt last year and it’s taken this long to happen!
They need to get out of the “picks and shovels” and “contract digger” market and into being a service provider, pronto. They’ll be disintermediated like every “app guy” before them: for some reason, the Australian market chews these companies up and spits them out. There hasn’t been a long-term relationship with anyone, unlike examples in the European market where provider relationships go on for many, many, years.
…it’s like agency musical chairs 😉

Another case of an Australian company too busy scrambling for scraps as opposed to making a solid product set out of what they have.
Needs more senior executive change and better harnessing of their internal talent.
