Sydney Children’s Hospital: help and you’ll feel better
The Sydney Hospital Foundation has launched a campaign that attempts to persuade people to donate because they’ll feel better if they do.
The ad, created by Rhodes Shapter, features a child with cancer whose forlorn face breaks into a smile as she turns to face the audience. The endline reads: “Help Sydney’s Children’s Hospital and you’ll feel better.”
Writer and joint creative director Dale Rhodes said the strategy was to avoid a bad news story and “dramatise the positive difference people can make in a sick young child’s life.”
Adam Check, CEO, Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, added: “The commercial and video capture the positive personality of the Foundation and bring to life the difference people can make in a hugely emotive and simple, human way.”
The commercial will run on TV and online and longer version of the video shown at events.

I saw this ad for the first time during The Late Show last night and I loved it! I loved it so much that at the end of the show I rewound the hard drive on my Foxtel IQ2 and went all the way back to watch the ad again. I then searched Google to find the ad on You tube and I have watched it again and again. What a really beautiful child and what a beautiful message. It tears at my heart and fills me with mixed emotion. I have never seen a more beautiful loving look on a childs face than this little girl. Full marks to the camera man and all those responsible for creating this incredibly heart warming message.
