Sydney Opera House’s Matthew Drummond appointed editor of AFR Magazine
Matthew Drummond, Sydney Opera House’s online editor, is set to join Fairfax’s Australian Financial Review Magazine as editor.
Drummond replaces Katrina Strickland, who recently took up the role of editor for Good Weekend.
The new appointment will see Drummond return to Fairfax Media for the first time since 2015 when he was editor of the Australian Financial Review Weekend edition for two years.
Since leaving Fairfax, Drummond worked as editor for GQ Australia and as online editor for eleven months with the Sydney Opera House.
In his new role, Drummond will work with the Financial Review’s luxury correspondent, Katarina Kroslakova, Life and Leisure’s editor, Charis Perkins, and Sophisticated Traveller editor, Fiona Carruthers, on upgrading the lifestyle and luxury parts of afr.com.
The Financial Review’s editor in chief, Michael Stutchbury, and editor Paul Bailey, said in a joint statement: “Matthew is a talented and innovative editor with a track record in building audiences.
“We look forward to him rejoining the Financial Review’s staff to build on the tremendous success of the magazine.”
