Sydney radio ratings: Big share losses as listeners spend less time with 2GB and KIIS
Sydney’s leading radio stations 2GB, KIIS FM and Smooth FM have all lost a big chunk of overall share. But in a slightly strange survey, no single station reported an equivalent gain.
The cumulative audience for 2GB grew slightly, while KIIS lost audience from its previous record highs. But the relative stability of those audience numbers – and the outsized drop in share – suggests those listeners are spending less time with their favourite radio stations.
Nine Radio’s 2GB held onto its crown in people 10+ with an 11.6% share in the fifth survey of the year, beating ARN’s KIIS FM which garnered a 10% share.
Interesting you point out Ray Hadley’s audience is tuning in for shorter periods,I listen to the first half hour for the days news, current affairs and sport then tune out as the next 2.5 hours has turned into a mix of way to many commercials, police reports, birthday and anniversary well wishes and spending more time telling listeners to call or email than he does taking calls or emails!
