Sydney radio ratings: KiisFM’s Hughesy & Kate beats Nova’s Kate, Tim and Marty in drive time slot

Survey six of the Sydney radio ratings saw a shakeup in the FM drive time slot, with Nova’s Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold falling 1.5 ratings points to a 9.7% share, putting them behind KiisFM’s Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes & Kate Langbroek.

The trio, who had a share of 11.2% in survey five, fell into second place in FM drive, behind KiisFM’s Hughesy & Kate, who dipped 0.3 ratings points to 9.8%. 

Hughesy & Kate’s contract is currently up for renewal.

In third place on FM radio drive was WSFM’s Jason Staveley, who had a share of 8.7%.

The drive time show was ahead of SmoothFM’s Byron Webb’s share of 7.8%, down 0.3 ratings points.

SCA’s Triple M also dipped slightly, with Merrick Watts’ Merrickville down 0.3 ratings points to 7.1%.

But it was 2DayFM that saw the biggest decline in drive, with Hamish & Andy down 1.6 ratings points to 5.2%.

The show is set to conclude at the end of the year, with their replacement yet to be announced.

In the breakfast timeslot, WSFM’s breakfast show with Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones and Amanda Keller tied first with longstanding FM breakfast show Kyle & Jackie O, gaining 1.4 ratings points.

The show achieved a breakfast share slot of 10.3%, which was the same as KiisFM’s Kylie & Jackie O show, which was up 0.3 ratings points to 10.3%.

Both shows were comfortably ahead of others in the breakfast time slot, with their closest FM competitor SCA’s Triple M breakfast show, The Grill Team wit Gus Worland, Mark Geyer, Matthew Johns Chris Page and Emma Freedman, up 0.6 ratings points to a  share of 7%.

SCA’s 2dayFM’s breakfast show, The Em Rusciano Radio Show with Harley Breen dipped 0.3 ratings points in survey six, down to 3.3%.

Nova96.9’s Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli saw one of the biggest share declines, down 1.2 ratings points to a share of 6.6%. The result puts them in third place in the breakfast slot.

Just behind Nova96.9 was Nova’s Smooth FM breakfast show with Bogart Torelli and Glenn Daniel, which remained relatively stagnant, up 0.1 ratings points to 6.4%.

On the FM bandwidth, WSFM maintained the largest Monday to Sunday share for the second consecutive survey, climbing 0.5 ratings points to 9.8%.

It was more than one ratings point ahead of rival Smooth FM, which was up 0.7 points to 8.7%.

KiisFM was just behind Smooth with a share of 8.6%, while Nova fell 0.7 ratings points to 7.2%.

Triple M was in fifth place in overall share, down 0.5 points to 5.8%, but it was ahead of SCA’s 2dayFM, which had a share of 4%, down 0.7 points.

Overall Macquarie Media’s 2GB won the sixth Sydney radio ratings survey of the year, maintaining its 12.6% share and its lead over both AM and FM stations.

In breakfast, Alan Jones dominated with a 15.3% share, while Macquarie Media’s Talking Lifestyle was up 0.2 ratings points to 3.7%.

ABC 702 posted a Monday to Sunday Share of 10%, down one ratings point.

2GB also won in drive, beating both KiisFM and Nova96.9, with a share of 10.4%, up 0.4 points from the previous survey.
