Sydney radio ratings: Kyle and Jackie O, and Alan Jones, both make gains in breakfast

The two leaders in Sydney’s breakfast radio market have increased their share of audience, with 2GB securing 16.4% of the market between 5:30am and 9:00am, and Kiis 106.5 climbing to 11.4% – gains of 1.2 and 1.3 share points respectively.

The nearest competitor was ABC Sydney – down 0.1 points to 10.3% – while in the FM market, Smooth 95.3, was down 0.5 points to 8%.

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson’s breakfast dominance continues 

The results of the second radio survey of 2019 mean Alan Jones remains top of the Sydney AM breakfast market, while the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Kiis still dominates the FM market.

Nova’s 96.9, which runs the Fitzy & Wippa show, fell 0.5 to 6.9%, while 2Day FM’s breakfast show with Ed Kavalee, Grant Denyer and Ash London climbed just 0.1 points to 4.5%.

The challenged Macquarie Sports Radio remained stagnant in breakfast, with just 0.6% of the audience.

In drive, Smooth FM remained on top on the FM bandwidth, climbing 0.1 points to 10.3%. ABC Sydney climbed 1.1 points to edge ahead on 10.4%.

Kiis 106.5’s Will and Woody also had a good survey, climbing 1.8 points to 8.7%.

Overall in the Sydney market, 2GB remains untouchable with 14.5% of people aged 10-plus – up from last survey’s 13.4%.

Kiis almost took the FM crown in Sydney – climbing 1.4 points to 9.1% – but Nova’s Smooth FM remained ahead on 9.5%, despite a 0.2 share point fall.

Macquarie Sports radio fell 0.1 points to retain just 0.5% of the market overall.
