Tanya Hennessy’s new podcast ‘I Can’t Stop’ has launched exclusively on Spotify.

The announcement:

Spotify, the world’s most popular global audio streaming subscription service, has today announced the launch of its latest Original Podcast, I Can’t Stop, with Australian media personality Tanya Hennessy.

Known as a powerhouse of relatability, Tanya Hennessy will give listeners an inside look at the realities behind social media, television, and radio while bringing the trials and tribulations of her day-to-day in a frank and honest way. With conversational anecdotes and longer form storytelling at its heart, each episode of I Can’t Stop explores Tanya’s idiosyncrasies, hang-ups and the ideas she can’t get out of her head.

Season one will run throughout 2020, with each weekly 45 minute episode revealing a side of Tanya that has been less traversed on her other channels, taking listeners behind the stage to show the heart and vulnerability of a thirty-something trying to understand the world around her – and the many questions she has about it. Candid, vulnerable, and spontaneous, each week Tanya will dive into the zeitgeist, personal stories and DM’s to answer the questions you’ve never asked yourself, like, what’s the right dress code for a buffet? Is it okay to bring a second date to a wedding? And what if you’ve got a hot cousin, can you call them hot, or is that not…fine? I Can’t Stop is the deep dive into the big issues that keep you up at night, but will also make you late for work because you can’t stop listening.

“I wanted to create something that was honest, real and FUNNY – so I Can’t Stop was born! I really found who I was when I was behind a microphone on the radio, but I wanted to go further, more in-depth and talk about the topics that I care about. I Can’t Stop is different to anything I’ve ever done before and will bring together all the ideas I have, combined with real honest conversation and absolute chaos,” said Tanya Hennessy, host of I Can’t Stop.

Tanya is no stranger to the recording studio, after starting her career in radio and quickly becoming a weekend breakfast host at the Hit Network. She has since become an Australian multi-media star, appearing in the sixth season of Network 10’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, hosting a variety of Network 10 shows throughout the duration of her career, and in 2019 embarked on her first live comedy tour ‘Low Expectations’. Tanya has also created an enormous social media presence through her funny and relatable online videos, and listeners can expect the same iconic comedic style from the I Can’t Stop podcast.

“I Can’t Stop will be my most authentic, honest and real project yet – it will be a look inside the mind of me, which is both exhilarating and terrifying. That’s why I’m excited to be working with Spotify, partnering with a platform that has such a passion for thinking differently, producing creative ideas and bringing fresh voices to the podcasting world – it’s the perfect fit for me and this podcast.”

Aboriginal Comedian and Ydinji woman Steph Tisdell will also feature on the podcast as a weekly guest, bringing a conversational element and sense of companionship to the show, asking questions on behalf of listeners to dig deeper into the topics Tanya explores. Steph has fast become a ubiquitous presence on mainstream television, appearing on Channel 10’s Stand Up for Christchurch Benefit, Hughesy We Have A Problem, and as both an interviewee and presenter on The Project. Steph has been described as one of the brightest stars to explode on the Australian comedy scene in recent years.

“My favourite podcasts have conversations with really good chemistry and banter, so I wanted to create that with I Can’t Stop. Having the hilarious comedian and genius, Steph Tisdell, on the podcast weekly does just that – I’m obsessed with her, she’s the funniest woman in the world. Together, we will bring our listeners laughter and thought provoking chat!”

Spotify’s innovations have transformed the global music market and now it’s leading the charge to grow podcasting and become the world’s largest audio network. As a company that is constantly looking at ways to showcase the quality and diversity of Australian creators, I Can’t Stop and the partnership with Tanya Hennessy demonstrates Spotify’s mission to unlock the potential of human creativity.

“This is an exciting time for podcasting in Australia. We are focused on unearthing local podcast creators while working with content partners to tell the stories that Australians and New Zealanders want to be a part of,” said Prithi Dey, Podcast Partner Manager, Spotify AUNZ.

“I Can’t Stop is a true representation of how we are connecting some of the best local creators with fans and new audiences to help them excel. By providing a platform for listeners to discover and engage in the cultural conversations that reflect Australian communities, we are driving the audio industry forward in a meaningful way.’

The number of weekly Australian podcast listeners has increased by 50% over the last three years, with 48% of podcast listeners in Australia also tuning into the radio each week, creating an immediate opportunity for new content. Spotify’s vision is to have a world of audio in one place, with global reach, personalised experiences, ubiquity on all devices and platforms, and a world of content that people love.
