Tara Rushton joins Ten ViacomCBS as it finalises commentary and presenter line-up for A-League launch

Ten ViacomCBS has revealed its full presenter and commentary line-up ahead of the A-League Men’s season launch in November, including Tara Rushton who joins from Fox Sports.

The network this year became the home for Australian domestic and international football, as it is set to broadcast all of the A-Leagues, Matildas, Socceroos and FFA Cup fixtures, hosted by Rushton, Niav Owens and Ten Sport presenter, Scott Mackinnon.

Simon Hill, who was unveiled by Network Ten to be calling Socceroos fixtures in August, is confirmed to be alongside Andy Harper as the main commentary team.

The on-air team will be supported with expert analysis and commentary from A-League legend Archie Thompson, former Socceroo, Mark Milligan, former Matildas defender, Georgia Yeoman-Dale, ex-Adelaide United and Socceroos striker Bruce Djite, former Sydney FC championship winner, Alex Brosque, ex-Matildas midfielder, Amy Chapman and former Socceroo, Luke Wilkshire.

Rushton said that she is grateful and excited to be continuing covering the sport with Ten and Paramount+ with the team that has been assembled.

“Football is my passion, and I am fortunate to have spent the last decade of my career immersed in the sport. I am really looking forward to the new season ahead.”

Archie Thompson added: “I couldn’t be more excited to start this new role with Ten ViacomCBS, they have some fresh and exciting plans for broadcast that I think the fans are really going to love.”

“The A-Leagues competition is set to be epic with some huge player signings. Bring on the new era of Australian football!”

Thompson is featuring on this season’s Celebrity MasterChef Australia, and was revealed in the lineup earlier this year, hinting that he would be joining the network’s football coverage team on a full-time basis. The season launched last week to a disappointing debut audience of 620,000 metro viewers.

The A-League Men’s competition starts on Friday, 19 November with the A-League Women’s season starting a fortnight later on 3 December.

This comes shortly after the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) was rebranded as the A-Leagues in September ahead of the new season. This month, the A-League Men’s competition unveiled Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) as its first official naming rights partner on a three year deal, officially titled the ‘Isuzu UTE A-League Men’.

The rights real for international fixtures was made public in June this year, with all Matildas and Socceroos matches to be shown free-to-air on Ten as part of a free-to-air broadcast deal for Football Australia, lasting through to the end of 2024.

Ten ViacomCBS is set to present its 2022 Upfronts tomorrow, 20 October.
