Adventurous goldfish promotes new Telstra pre-paid freedom offer
Telstra is promoting its ‘Pre-Paid Freedom’ offer with a new campaign featuring a goldfish making a bid for freedom after being terrorised by his boy owner.
The spot, created by DDB Sydney, is a part of the rebranding of the telco’s pre-paid range, and aims to reward its pre-paid customers with free calls, free texts and bonus data.

Complementing the two TV ads are digital banners, mobile ads and video placement on third party sites such as YouTube and Facebook and Point of Sale.

Telstra’s campaign follows on from Optus promoting its pre-paid plans which charge customers for the days they use their phone with a spot featuring brand ambassador Josh Thomas in a shark cage.

There’s something very fishy about Telstra’s phone plans.

Really? first off, how does a gold fish lift its entire tank from inside the bowl and place it perfectly on the remote controlled car, then, somehow pick up a tablet, navigate through the menu using its tiny fins, then control the tablet from inside the bowl and manoeuvre its way out of the house and onto the road???
Or is this one of those ‘its all dream’ ads where we find the fish still stuck in its little bowl being tormented by this stereotypically overweight annoying child.
Also, (being a former overweight child) I resent the fact the overweight children are always cast as the annoying brats.
Jan would not be happy.

DDB plagiarising their own work now?

I suspect there is some LSD in the water at DDB. If you are promoting freedom, why did the fish stay in the bowl? Why did the client approve this ad. Is it supposed to be so confusing? I couldn’t stop thinking about this fish and only saw the big T at the end.
Ill go take some LSD, watch this again in reverse and maybe ill get it.
