Ten beats Nine with the help of Masterchef
Last night’s double episode of Masterchef helped Ten secure second place in terms of audience share, beating Nine with a share of 18.8 per cent as Seven won the night with a share of 20.6 per cent.
The cooking show grabbed 1.031m metro viewers at 7.30pm growing to 1.056m for the second episode from 8.30pm. The second episode was the most watched show across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54) while the first episode was the second-most watched show.
In the 7.30pm timeslot, it easily out-rated Nine’s Top Gear 253,000 in Sydney and Brisbane while Seven’s Border Security: International (airing from 8pm), was watched by 312,000 in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Seven’s Thursday night AFL match grabbed 482,000 in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Nine grabbed an audience share of 16.5 per cent while the ABC settled for a share of 11.2 per cent. However, when secondary channels are accounted for Nine just managed to beat Ten with a total share of 24.7 per cent compared to Ten’s total share of 24.6 per cent.
