Ten board grows as Bruce Gordon joins the musical chairs

Ten’s board may end up with 11 directors in the latest ruction since James Packer stepped into the fray a fortnight ago.

The network board today said that Paul Mallam will join the board as a representative of long time shareholder Bruce Gordon who owns about 13% of the company.

Ten currently had an eight person board but has already offered two additional seats to James Packer and Lachlan Murdoch.

Last night chairman Nick Fallooon said he was willing to step down after next month’s board meeting. This morning the Sydney Morning Herald reported that Packer’s share raid had stymied Falloon’s own plans to take the company private.

Gordon said: “I am delighted that we have agreed with Ten Holdings to the appointment of our nominee, Paul Mallam, becoming a Director of the Company. Paul is a highly experienced media and technology lawyer, having previously been a partner of Blake Dawson and is currently the principal of Mallam Lawyers.”

Falloon, said: “Paul is held in high regard by the media industry generally and we welcome his appointment on the basis of his ability to make a significant contribution to the Company.”
