Ten confirms Masterchef will go up against new Seven and Nine shows on May 5

Network Ten has confirmed its hit cooking show Masterchef will return next Tuesday, May 5, putting it head to head with the premieres of reality offerings from rivals Seven and Nine.

Channel Nine’s The Block: Triple Threat finishes tomorrow night whilst Seven’s own cooking offering My Kitchen Rules has its finale next Monday. Nine’s new show Reno Rumble also starts next Tuesday as does Seven’s House Rules.

Today Ten has also confirmed sponsor Coles has returned for its sixth season alongside Harvey Norman and Alfa Romeo with new sponsors including Finish and Swisse Wellness, which counts host George Colombaris among its ambassadors.

Following a difficult couple of years the reality cooking show enjoyed a rennaisance last year, boosting its audience considerably and grabbing more than 1.7m metro viewers for its finale last July.

Chief sales officer Louise Barrett, said in a statement: “MasterChef Australia is the original and the best, and we are very pleased to welcome returning sponsors and new partners to the 2015 season.

“Unrivalled in quality and credibility, MasterChef Australia consistently provides the finest and most seamless integration for clients in program, which is why sponsors keep coming back year after year.

“This year has been no exception, with incredibly strong interest from some of the highest profile brands in Australia. In 2014, MasterChef Australia increased its audience by 31 per cent and advertisers cannot wait to partner again with one of the nation’s most-loved and highest ratings programs.”

Sponsors last year included South Cape, King Island Dairy and Bendigo Bank.

Celebrity guests for this season of the show include Heston Blumenthal, Massimo Bottura, Sat Bains, Maggie Beer, Marco Pierre White, Curtis Stone and Marcus Wareing.
