Ten names leadership team across publicity, social and PR strategy
Network Ten has appointed new leaders across publicity, social media and PR strategy, which will see marketing and social media boss, Brad Garbutt, step back from his social media duties.
The network has appointed Kirsty Wilson as head of social content, who takes over the responsibilities from Garbutt. Garbutt will now focus solely on his marketing role.
Wilson first joined Ten in 2008, and has held a number of senior publicity roles, including Sydney publicity manager and acting head of publicity.
Beverley McGarvey, Ten’s chief content officer, said social was a crucial part of building brands for an under 50s audience.
“As we continue to increase our marketing investment and focus, it’s important that we have a dedicated leader to take our social strategy forward. It’s fantastic that we’re able to appoint Kirsty to lead this function and I look forward to continue working with her in her new capacity as she takes over the leadership of our energetic, imaginative and hard-working social team,” McGarvey said.
Wilson, who has also worked for BBC in the UK and ITV, said she was thrilled to lead the new social division.
“I very much look forward to working with 10’s existing social media producers and further expanding this wonderful team so we can lead the way in continuing to deliver innovative, fresh and engaging content to viewers and advertisers,” Wilson said.
At the same time, Sarah Johnson, who is currently national publicity manager alongside Catherine Donovan, has been named Ten’s head of publicity, and will be responsible for managing programs and talent.
Donovan has been also been promoted. Her new role as Ten’s head of PR strategy and events, will involve managing PR initiatives, key publicity events and projects.
Johnson’s appointment comes after eight years with Ten, while Donovan first joined Ten in 2004.
“It’s really exciting to be making these two appointments. Not only are SJ and Cat brilliant and experienced PR executives, they are a pleasure to work with and invaluable team members,” McGarvey said. “I am thrilled they are taking on these critical roles at such an important time for the Network.
“With the appointments of SJ, Cat and Kirsty, as well as Brad’s excellent work as marketing lead, we are in an excellent position to share our big 2019 plans with audiences in creative and innovative ways.”
Fine appointments.
And now for the two roles that are pivotal to Ten’s Success -CEO and Programmer.
It’s time to make the call and get some fresh blood in, and maybe then Ten will head in the right direction.
CBS are winners and the industry tip is they are none too pleased with running fourth behind the ABC.
