Ten reveals first look at Masterchef 3
Network Ten hosted has launched its third season of Masterchef with a party at its kitchen studio in Sydney.
Ten has also put to air a first look at the new series, which is the network’s single most important show.
As well as an additional judge in Matt Moran, guests in the series include Heston Blumenthal, Nigella Lawson, Rick Stein, Maggie Beer and Adriano Zumbo.
Production on the series has geared up again, with challenges including a one tonne mystery box on Cockatoo island, travelling to Kuala Lumpur, the pit of the Sunrise Dam mine in the West Australian outback, two kilometres out to sea on the longest jetty in the Southern hemisphere in Busselton, and the vineyards of Margaret River. There is also a challenge on Cronulla beach.
The series begins on May 1.
I can’t wait for when they travel to Kuala Mupur

This looks great & provided we aren’t subject to video packages of the “journey” and the question “why should you win this” with all the tears – it should be awesome.
Note to directors/producers: You have one of the highest rating shows ever in Australia. Not one of your presenters was nominated for a Logie award (issues with voting format aside). It shows people watch in spite of the judges, not because of them. They aren’t the stars.

Masterchief will blow MKR out of the water – of course they’re bloody competition. The main difference for me is that with Masterchief the viewer develops a closer relationship with the characters in the show – it’s more emotive. Who cares whether they’re from NSW, QLD or timbucktoo .. whatever these boys say, the only reason most people watch the show is because for one reason or another they develop a ‘friendship’ with particular contestants. If they can cook too, well that’s a bonus! If they can’t, they’ll soon be gone anyway! Good luck Masterchief, I think it has another two years left before the public loses interest .. so, make hay….

“Masterchief’ – sorry for the error – quite apt really!

Bit soft with the questions Tim – would be nice to hear how ‘the boys’ justify 4 male judges and still no females…

This is the best show on Australian television, and ten times better than the UK version. Can’t wait!

Great piece, particularly the bit with the producers.
