Ten sales team takes shape as network appoints Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth directors

Ten says it has bolstered its “advertising sales empire” and appointed sales directors for Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, with leaders rejoining the organisation from MCN.

The network also flagged it will announce its Sydney sales director, national sales director and digital sales director shortly.

The new sales directors at Ten (L-R): Damon Jackson, Cameron Mudge, Angela Neville and Paul Townsend

The announcements come as Ten’s recently promoted chief sales officer Rod Prosser looks to bolster network’s internal sales team in the wake of its split from external sales house MCN.

In Melbourne, Damon Jackson, currently commercial integration and sports sales manager, will become sales director effective immediately. He has almost 30 years behind him working in media sales across Ten, Ignite Media Brands, Seven West Media, ESPN Star Sports in Hong Kong and MCN.

In Brisbane, current general manager of Brisbane and south-east Queensland and former sales director, Angela Neville, will add sales director back into her title.

She worked with Ten in the late 1990s, before joining Eye Corp Media in 2009 to become its state sales manager. She then spent time as Seven Affiliate Sales as sales director, before rejoining Ten in 2011 as Brisbane sales director. She was appointed general manager of Brisbane and south-east Queensland earlier this year.

Her appointment is also effective immediately.

Cameron Mudge, currently leading sales at MCN in South Australia, will be Ten’s new Adelaide sales director from December. Prior to joining MCN, Mudge had worked at Ten for six years in group sales manager roles.

Also coming back across from MCN will be Perth’s Paul Townsend. He spent more than 13 years leading Ten’s Perth sales operations as group sales manager and then Perth sales director. He then moved to MCN as group sales manager for Perth.

Townsend, who also rejoins Ten in December, will also add general manager, Perth, to his title, taking those responsibilities away from Frank Filosi, who has been general manager of Perth and Adelaide since 2014.

All four new appointments will report to the yet-to-be-appointed national sales director, while Towsend will also report to Ten’s chief operating officer Annabelle Herd in his capacity as general manager of Perth. Ten said Jackson and Mudge will work closely with Ten’s general managers in their respective states – Toni Skaife in Melbourne and Filosi in Adelaide.

Prosser said Ten was building something exciting with the new team.

“With our brilliant entertainment programming line-up over the coming months, we have a great story to tell and more commercial opportunities than ever. Damon, Ange, Cam and Paul are experienced, well-respected leaders in their respective markets. They are also passionate about Ten, our multi-platform offering and what we can achieve by bringing the advertising sales team back in-house. Each of them are great ambassadors for Ten, having worked closely with the company for many years. I’m thrilled to have them part of the sales leadership team to take Ten’s commercial strategy into the future,” he said.

Herd paid special attention to Townsend, and thanked Filosi for his time spent managing the market.

“Paul [Townsend] has an infectious energy and there are few people that know the WA market as well as he does, so I’m really pleased that he will be leading our operations in Perth,” she said.

“I’d also like to thank Frank Filosi for this outstanding leadership in WA over the past four years. He has done a phenomenal job and will leave the station in great shape.

“Even though he is busier than ever as our general manager of network operations and Adelaide, Frank will work closely with Paul when he joins Ten to ensure a smooth transition.”

In addition to the new appointments, Michael Stanford has already been announced as national creative director of Ten Imagine (Ten’s commercial production division), Tamar Hovagimian is head of Ten Effect (the commercial partnership division) and Gareth Tomlin will be general manager of data, insights and analytics, while MCN has been subject to a number of redundancies.
