Ten to premiere Masterchef season 10 on Monday 7 May

Ten’s flagship reality program Masterchef will return for its 10th season on Monday 7 May.

The show will fill the hole left in Ten’s schedule as Bachelor in Paradise concludes this Sunday and Monday. Bachelor in Paradise has been providing Ten with a much-needed ratings boost, however the network has been struggling on nights it is absent from the programming schedule – with audience shares dipping to 9.2% on Tuesday and 7.9% on Wednesday

Ten will be banking on Masterchef being a ratings success

A release from Ten said this season would be “full of surprises”.

“Masterchef Australia judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris are back in the kitchen, encouraging and challenging the contestants to cook smart, extend their creativity and overcome obstacles in ways they never dreamt possible,” the release said.

“Vue de Monde’s Shannon Bennett reprises his role as mentor for the immunity challenges, confidence he can give away more immunity pins than ever before.

“Masterchef Australia promises a season full of surprises and boasts some of Australia’s and the world’s best chefs including Maggie Beer, Curtis Stone, Adriano Zumbo and domestic goddess Nigella Lawson. And for the first time, internationally renowned Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay will enter the kitchen, keen to keep the Top 24 contestants on their toes.”

The show premieres on Ten and the WIN Network at 7:30pm on Monday 7 May, and will also screen on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Last year’s season nine premiere had a metro audience of 1.06m viewers, while the finale drew in 1.303m – significantly down on the 1.875m who tuned in for the final episode in 2016.
